Ukrán seriffek / Ukrainian Sheriffs

Ukrajnában, Sztara Zburjevka faluban Viktort és Vologyát helyi seriffeknek nevezte ki a polgármester. Feladatuk az, hogy a falu közösségében fellépő vitákat és problémákat rendőri segítség nélkül megoldják. Adva van egy ravasz csavargó, aki nem szeret dolgozni. Egy szabadon kószáló baltás ember. És egy polgármester, aki hisz abban, hogy a falu lakói jobbá válhatnak. A két seriff ukrán zászlóval díszített sárga magán-Ladájával vonul esetről esetre: lenyugtatnak egy felhergelt szomszédot, nyomoznak egy haláleset kapcsán, kinyitnak egy beragadt babakocsit és megpróbálják segíteni az ingyenélő és kutyahús-evő Vova társadalmi beilleszkedését, aki valójában, mint mindenki más, normális életre vágyik. Múlik az idő, s a politikai változások és szeparatista indulatok a tévéközvetítésen keresztül elérik a falut is. Az ország Függetlenségi Napi ünnepének idején a falu férfiait besorozzák a hadseregbe. Az Ukrán seriffek a részletek iránti remek érzékkel és jó adag fekete humorral tárja elénk a falu mindennapi életét.

Viktor and Volodya were appointed local sheriffs by the mayor for the village of Stara Zburyevka, Ukraine. Their duty is to mend the quarrels and problems of the community in the village that has no regular police force. There’s a sly bum whose gift is not to work. There’s a man on the loose with an axe. And there’s the mayor who believes in the ability of his villagers to change for the better. Driving in their yellow Lada flying its own little Ukrainian flag, they travel from incident to incident – calming an angry neighbor, investigating the discovery of a body, struggling to unfold a stroller and attempting to re-integrate Vova, the freeloader who eats other people’s dogs but actually longs for a normal existence – just like everyone else here. The seasons pass until political developments reach the village sowing separatist discord. Around the time of the celebrations for the country’s Independence Day, the men of the village are drafted into the army. Ukrainian Sheriffs offers insight into the everyday life of a Ukrainian village observed with a dry humor and a great eye for detail.
